GET INVOLVED
Welcome to Rockville United Church. We invite you to join us for all of our activities. Our goal is always to accomplish our tasks, whether inward or outward facing, while sharing our fellowship and having fun.
One of the best ways to get to know us--and for us is to get to know you--is to participate in the life of the church in addition to Sunday worship. We invite you to join any of our Ministries or volunteer for any activity or group.
You will be welcomed!
Church Life
Here are many of the ways you enjoy the fellowship of RUC:
Help organize fellowship activities: Dinners, after-church fellowship, dances, game nights, decorating night--or any other activity that is fun!
Celebrating Seniors: Our over 60 crowd hosts a monthly lunch (with summers off) of great food, a program and fellowship. You can contribute to the meal, help with decoration, or contribute to clean up. Or just come and enjoy the fun.
Support committee events: This group helps all other groups at RUC organize receptions to support various events from Rally Day to special concerts and services.
RUC Choir: Open to all who love to sing, the choir meets on Wednesday evenings at 7:30. Just show up! You will be welcome.
Maintain kitchen: Not glamorous but oh so necessary, this includes shopping for supplies, kitchen cleanups and keeping an eye on our kitchen.
Children's Choir: Join us after church during the school year as we teach our youngest simple songs that they sing during various church services.
Greening RUC: Our goal is to continue our greening efforts through sustainable landscaping, an energy-efficient building and good green practices. This is home to many of the church's best gardeners!
Building/Grounds upkeep: We have several work days throughout the year to maintin our building and grounds. These are great collective work efforts and any skill level is welcome. Childcare is provided and our little ones often contribute to the outside work!
Congregational Nurture
The Congregational Nurture group cares for our members in need of help and comfort--and also helps celebrate life milestones. All contributions are welcome. Here are some of the activities:
Visit homebound and hospitalized members
Send cards of all kinds--get well, sympathy, congratulations, birthdays.
Check-in calls to homebound folks or anyone in need of a friendly voice.
Celebrate life milestones with after-church fellowship
Support during loss and bereavement
Help to organize Memorial Service Receptions
Shawl Ministry by knitting prayer shawls for anyone facing difficulties. Knitting instruction happily provided!
