Our Symbol

Our Symbol

This design celebrates the spirit of Rockville United Church. The central element, the Cross, is created by the joining of two crosses representing our affiliation with the Presbyterian Church, USA, and the United Church of Christ. The Cross symbolizes Christ, who is Lord of the whole church.

The world is at once the object of God's love and the place of our ministry. The shaft of grain reminds us of our spiritual hunger that is met in Communion, and of world hunger that is met in the service of our neighbors. The movement of the shaft of wheat represents growth and fruition, and depicts Rockville United Church as a living, moving force within the reign of God on earth.

The descending dove represents the gifts of the Spirit and peace.
