Exploring Meditation

EXPLORING MEDITATION

Meditation as a spiritual practice can be an important support for deepening our prayer and enhancing our awareness of the Divine in daily life.  At its heart meditation is about enhancing awareness, becoming more present to reality, and letting go of what keeps us from being present to life and God.  Choosing a meditation practice that is right for us is an important discernment as we seek to deepen our life in the Spirit.

For the past six weeks members of RUC have met together on Monday evenings to explore different types of meditation practices.  Led by Bill Deitrich, we have meditated using natural objects, practiced Lectio Divina or "sacred reading" and experienced different approaches to Centering Prayer.  These excercies have given each of us a chance to be with God in a new way. Over the next month we will reflect upon our experiences and plan a path for continuing our meditation practice at RUC.  In the meantime, Bill has graciously provided the notes from each class.  Please feel free to check out and practice the activities and see which one speaks to you.
