Opportunities for Teens

Older children are given opportunities for leadership in our Sunday School rotation program, in mission activities in our community, our world, or within our church family through congregational care.  Aside from taking leadership in marathons to collect funds for charity, participating in hands-on activities to feed the homeless, from baking bread to planning and serving monthly meals at a shelter, our teens can work with younger children to create drama performances or create artistic cards to cheer others.  Older youth are also encouraged to take opportunities to collaborate with adult members, participate in our adult choir, develop a youth service and speak to the congregation through homily, join in mission with Habitat for Humanity, and participate in adult education activities.

NOISY - Nuclear, Outstanding, Ironic, Super, Youth

The Youth of Rockville United Church are an exciting bunch.  With the dynamic leadership of our Youth Leader, Jessica Harris, they meet monthy for great mission, education, and fellowship opportunities.  Come join us.  Invite your friends to join us.  Look to the Calendar page of this website to find our scheduled events or call the Church Office.

Confirmation

Our High School youth are invited to participate in Confirmation, a program of classes and mission, with adult mentors and leadership, that culminates with a church service where confirmands are formally welcomed as members of Rockville United Church.

Rainbow Shelter

Once a month from November through March, interested RUC youth participate in planning, perparing, serving and cleaning up after a meal at The Rainbow Shelter, a homeless shelter for women operated out of the Rockville Presbyterian Church.  This activity earns community service hours, and has been a stewardship activity shared by RUC youth for more than a decade.
