Christian Education for Teenagers

Christian Education for Teenagers:  Combining Fun, Fellowship and Learning with MISSION

Teenagers at RUC are welcoming, creative and fun loving.  We offer varied opportunities for teenagers to enjoy each other, serve others and learn about our Christian heritage.  One Friday night each month from November to March, RUC teens gather to prepare, cook, serve and clean up a meal for the homeless women at Rainbow Shleter.  For the past several years RUC teens participated in World Vision's National 30 Hour Famine, raising money for hungry children around the world.  Children and youth together have collected canned food for MANNA, prepared care packages for our troops, disaster kits for communities, and engaged in a video marathon for charity.  An annual youth retreat allows them to engage and learn in ways that build community, memories and bonds that last.

Middle schoolers are invited to join their peers for in-depth discussion and engaging activities on Sunday mornings.  They attend worship at 10:45 and depart for Sunday School after the "Word for Children."

Senior high students are welcome to remain in worship.  One Sunday a month we offer "Coffee and Conversation" at a local venue.

Senior High "Coffee & Conversation"

NOISY (Nuclear, outstanding, ironic, super, youth) is our middle and senior high youth group that meets twice a month.  Please visit our Education menu and click "NOISY" for further information on our many activities.

Confirmation Class is held every other year.  We explore faith: old ideas and new, the history of the PC (USA) and UCC denominations, and questions of WHY we do WHAT we DO and BELIEVE WHAT we BELIEVE as Christians.   We invite ninth graders and older youth to join this class.  Our next Confirmation Class is scheduled for 2013 -2014.  Please let Pastor Scott Winnette or Director of Education Sarah Anders know of your interest,

If you have questions about our program and how we might engage your family, do not hesitate to email our Director of Education, Sarah Anders at sarah@rockvilleunitedchurch.org.
