Adult Education at RUC is led by member volunteers, with regular Sunday sessions held prior to our church service, at the same time our children attend Sunday School. There are opportunities for additonal programs after church and at other times based upon member interest, and depending upon the availability of leaders and speakers. Our programs vary by topic, and we benefit from a membership base that includes professionals interested in theology, professors, and seminarians. Past programs included: studying Psalms and the craft of Psalm writing; examining contrasts between our faith and other Religions; studying the Requiem Mass; examining Handel's Messiah; many traditional Bible study series; and classes on parenting. In 2011 we studied the prophets Amos and Hosea, shared in a Lenten mini series called Jesus and the Powerful, had a series on Sacred Waters, and examined current and historic themes related to Christians and Islam. For fall 2011, we plan to study Acts as gospel of the spirit, and explore issues around fundamentalism in a variety of faiths.
