Education

Christian Education is for all ages and stages.

From nursery care for our very youngest, to seminars and Bible study for our adult members, we offer Christian Education programs for everyone. We look forward to your participation!

Sunday School begins at 9:30 a.m. during the school year.  Our Fall  program will begin on September 11, 2011 with a Rally Day celebration, including a breakfast program and an all church picnic after the service.
 

Christian Education for Youth
Chrisitan Education for children at RUC merges arts and mission, with a special focus on community and stewardship.  We have a youth music praise team choir that practices and performs during church services, children's experiences led by adults and older youth, "Jamming with Jim" youth instrumentalists, rotation classes that offer choices, field trips for older youth, and opportunities for youth service and leadership.

Christian Education for Adults                                                                                                                                                                                            Our Christian Education program for adults this year included classes on environmental stewardship; Jesus and the nature of our faithfulness; Christianity and Islam; and Amos and Hosea.  For Lent, we will have a series on Jesus' relationship with power; and will end the year with a series on Sacred Waters.

Children in Worship
A "Children's Experience" is a frequent element of our church service.  An adult or older youth volunteer invites children up on the chancel near the start of the service.  They engage the children and the congregation using a story-telling format, in a theme related to scripture.

Children's Enrichment begins February 19!

Beginning February 19th and continuing through June 17th, we will offer spiritual enrichment and fellowship opportunities for our youngest children, as an alternative to remaining through the entire worship service. Children ages four through eight (third grade) will stay in worship through our Children’s Experience, and will then be given the opportunity, if they wish, to go downstairs to engage with peers in a Bible lesson, an activity, fellowship through play, and sometimes, music. Parents/caregivers may pick up their children downstairs at the conclusion of worship.

Activity Bags Available During Church
During church, children may use RUC activity bags with opportunities for coloring, reading, and simple writing activities related to scripture.  Children are always welcome to stay through our church service.
