Community Ministries of Rockville

Rockville United Church arose from the commitment of two congregations to join together to worship but also to extend God's healing presence in our community. Since 1967, Community Ministries of Rockville has been supported by RUC. Our pastor has served as the executive director of CMR. Members of our congregation serve as volunteers, board members and staff.

Domestic Outreach

Habitat for Humanity in Garrett County, Neighbors in Need, Seminary Minority Education

Habitat for Humanity

For more than 20 years, RUC has been raising funds and building houses for Garrett County Habitat for Humanity Chapter.  Each year we send a work crew of about 40 people for a week in July to work on up to three houses.  To fund the work crew, and to provide additional funds for Habitat, we host a fund-raising dinner and a yard sale each May.  This allows us to donate as much as $8000 to the Garrett County organization.  For several years, we have partnered with Bethesda United Church of Christ in this mission.  In addition, the Morningstar Fellowship cont

Rainbow Place Shelter, Springvale Terrace, Whitman Walker Clinic, Lord's Table Soup Kitchen, Victory Housing, Hoffman Homes for Youth, Hospice Caring and Montgomery Hospice Society

Sophia House Delivery

On the 3rd Sunday of each month, RUC members contribute breakfast and dinner items for Sophia House, a short-term emergency shelter for women.  The menus are coordinated and a list of items needed is on the information table in the narthex.  If you would like to donate, please sign your name and contact information on the list or contact the church office for more information.  Needed items include:
