Advanced Directives and Living
Wills—A Guide to Maryland Law on Health Care Decisions
Who makes the important decisions about medical
care and procedures when there is a serious, life-threatening condition?
Over the years here at RUC we have encouraged everyone to complete
a packet which includes your Advance Directives, Living Will, funeral
arrangements, and persons to be contacted. The Congregational Care
Committee has threatened (in our fantasies) some Sunday at Worship
to close the doors and keep everyone there until such packets are
completed. Even without such drastic measures a number of you have
left copies of those forms, sealed, with the office here at RUC.
The packets we have are still accurate, but for
the very latest information, you can contact the Office of the
Attorney General
for the State of Maryland who issues an extensive compilation of
advice, guidance, and forms that a guide to comply with Maryland’s
legal requirements. So, for the latest, see www.oag.state.md.us/healthpol/adirective.pdf.
