Hello
Beth,
When is the date of Duncan’s installation?
Tell me what is happening.
I’m in the Dark
At last, our new permanent
settled pastor, the Rev. Dr. Duncan D. Newcomer, will be installed
on Sunday, November 4th, at 4:00 in our church sanctuary! It
will be a glorious celebration with representative of both of
our parent denominations participating. Duncan and members of
our congregation are working together to make it a serious, meaningful,
and joyful experience with the choir, a bagpiper, and others.
I hope you will be able to join us for the service and the gala
reception afterwards!
Dear Beth,
What happened to the radiant rainbow flags greeting
us each Sunday morning? I found them not only to be a symbol of
our commitment to being an open and affirming/more light church,
but also a beacon of hope and sign of our dedication to social
justice.
from, feeling under the rainbow
Thank you for reminding
me that our rainbow flag hasn’t been flying each Sunday
morning. Since there are still hate phone calls in Rockville
and our flags have been stolen several times, I think it is important
that we keep flying it as a symbol of the love of God for all
people. So that we don’t have to depend on Duncan, an Elder,
or another member to remember to fly our flag on Sunday, Della
Kloostra, our Church Administrator, has asked Steve Cooper, our
Sextant, to hang it out before church services and return it
to the office after worship.
My Dearest Beth,
With housing, gas, and tuition prices so high,
why do you give money to RUC?
Sincerely yours, Purpose to my Pursestrings
There are so many reasons
that I give. I feel I get a big bang for my buck at RUC! I want
to make a difference, show God’s love, and be a positive
influence in the world. I feel I can be more effective joining
forces with other like-minded people like those I find at RUC.
I am grateful for those before me who worked and sacrificed so
that I can worship freely and I want to pass this gift on to
our children and grandchildren. I want the cross on our roof
to stand as a positive force, a beacon of hope and love, and
a symbol of peace and justice in this community and throughout
the world. Since RUC has no independent resources, all of these
wishes require my time, money, and energy. I feel as if I get
more than I give! I am so blessed!
Love and cheers,
Beth .
